Every Thursday - Coffee and Chat at East Cowes Methodist Church, Adelaide Grove from 10am - 12 noon.  Everyone welcome.
              
Every Monday. The Games Lounge for 50+ year olds at the West Wight Sports & Community Centre. Drop in anytime between 1pm and 4pm. Entrance fee £2. Take part for free with table tennis, pool, board games etc. and socialise over hot drink refills.

Every Friday from 10am – 12pm – Weekly Drop in at Downside Community Centre, Furrlongs, Newport.    Help and information with finding local activities, debt, education, employment, forms and applications, finance, housing, jobs, health and getting involved in the community.   Everybody is welcome.  This is a free, confidential and friendly session.

Every Wednesday. Bridge for Beginners at the West Wight Sports & Community Centre. From 2pm to 4pm. Turn up and play for £2. Looking for those with experience, who would mentor whilst playing at a table and new participants at entry level.      

2nd Monday of every month - St. Mary's Church Cowes is starting a Table Tennis afternoon in the Parish Room from 2 - 4 p.m.  Come along and play or just watch and have a sociable afternoon - £2 per person.   Refreshments are available.  
Second Thursday of every month - Sandown Evening Townswomen's Guild meet at 7pm in St. John’s Church annexe, St John's Crescent. Most months we have a speaker to begin the meeting. During the year we have outings, a monthly lunch club, craft and scrabble afternoons and also jumble sales. New members are always welcome so why not try a  meeting as a guest and then see what goes on and see it is for you.

Saturday 1st September – Tour de West Wight – Held as part of the IW Cycle Fest, is open to all cyclists and abilities aged 16 years or over. The ride is being hosted by West Wight Sports & Community Centre and led by the West Wight Wheelers, a local cycling club. The 40km route starts and finishes at the Centre and takes riders through the scenic roads of West Wight. Sunday 2nd September – Morris Minor Rally at Isle of Wight Steam Railway, Station Road, Havenstreet, Ryde at 10am. The first British car to sell a million! The ‘Moggy Minor’ is fondly remembered and is still a much-loved car.  See a host of Travellers, saloons, convertibles, vans, pick-ups and custom classics on display.  There is FREE ENTRANCE to the show. Standard train fares apply.

Sunday 2nd September –West Wight Parade is back! The traditional parade will meet at Colwell Common at 13.15 setting off on its travels at 14.00.Route: Colwell Common, The Broadway, Granville Road, The Broadway, The Avenue, Avenue Road, School Green Road to terminate at Moa Place.  Want to take part? Just turn up to the common with your best fancy dress.

Monday 3rd September - Isle of Wight Family History Society open meeting at Hunnyhill Room, Riverside Centre, The Quay, Newport PO30 2QR. "My Relative who went to China" a talk by Jennifer Childs. Doors open 7 pm talk starts 7.30pm. Everyone welcome. Members of the Isle of Wight FHS - £1; non-members - £2  

Friday 7th September – A talk on Norris Castle by Sarah Burdett, at the Methodist Church, Adelaide Grove, East Cowes, 2:30pm followed by a cream tea. Monies raised to be shared between the Heritage Centre and Methodist Church. All very welcome. Price £3.     
                       
Saturday 8th September – Autumn Fair and Barn Dance at St John’s Church, Drake Road, Newport.  Autumn Fair with refreshments from 10a.m. to 2p.m. A Barn Dance with refreshments from 7p.m. to 9p.m.

Saturday 8th September – Coffee morning/open day at Vectis Radio from 10am -12pm.  Come along to the Vectis Radio studio at the Riverside Centre and see how it all works.  Tea/coffee and biscuits supplied for a minimum £1 donation to keep the community radio station running.

Saturday 8th September – Summer Bembridge Beach Clean Up.   Everyone is welcome.   Meet at beach at 10am at either Beach Road, Ducie Avenue, Swains Lane, Lane End Road, Paddock Drive.   Decide where you want to start and a happy helper will be there to provide bags etc.

Saturday 8th September – Table Top sale at Cowes Methodist Church from 10.20am – 2.30pm.  Raising funds for the Foodbank and Cowes Methodist Church

Thursday 13th September and every Thursday after – Freshwater Short Mat Bowls Club meet at 1.15pm at Freshwater Memorial Hall on Avenue Road, parking on site. Visitors, other Club’s members and new members always welcome. Bowls can be borrowed but please wear flat, smooth soled shoes- carpet slippers are fine if nothing else is available. Saturday 15th September – Run through the colours of the Age UK Isle of Wight Rainbow at Porchfield Cricket Club as part of their annual club fund day.    Run (or walk!) through our fun filled 2K colour course, starting at 2pm. £10 entry for adults £5 for children (13 & under). Every Participants gets a rainbow pack including sunglasses, holi colour powder and a certificate of completion!  100% of all funds raised stay on the Island - Helping older islanders to love later life.

Saturday 15th September and Sunday 16th September -  International Classic Car Show from 10am – 6pm.   Now in its 17th year, the famous Isle of Wight Charity Classic Car event promises to be the biggest and best ever. Vehicles from all over the UK and mainland Europe will be attending this unique two-day show. There will be a spectacular collection of vintage, classic, custom and retro cars and other rare vehicles.    Saturday 15th - the show will be located at the Newport Quay. All the funds raised will be donated directly to the Isle of Wight Round Table to support children in need on the Island and Sunday 16th the show will be held at Ryde Esplanade. All the money raised will be donated directly to the Earl Mountbatten Hospice in Newport.    Both shows will be FREE to attend.   

Sunday 16th September – West Wight Triathlon – Hosted by West Wight Sports & Community Centre, this popular West Wight Triathlon is an ideal race for first timers but challenging enough for more experienced racers. It incorporates a pool swim, spectacular cycle along the Military Road, along the south west coast of the Isle of Wight and flat run along the picturesque River Yar. Saturday 22nd September - Beach Clean - “FAECES (Fight Against Environmental Contamination of Estuaries and Seafronts) will be holding a Beach Clean in conjunction with the Isle of Wight Day and SAS (Surfers Against Sewage).  Please meet up at 4.00pm at Esplanade car park and bring wellies and work gloves if you have them.  All supervised children and dogs very welcome.”

Saturday 22nd September - Isle of Wight Day.  A carnival of events across the Island to celebrate all that is good and magical about the Isle of Wight. Live entertainment, parades, food and drink and parties across the Island, including special offers in restaurants, cafes and visitor attractions.
This year the Island will be taking part in the UK’s longest ever coastline clean-up to rid the Island’s beautiful beaches of unwanted plastic waste that the seas have dumped there. Leading this initiative will be Nipper, a giant 7ft high crab mascot (with pincers to pick up plastic waste) who will helping to recruit the hundreds of volunteers needed for this major coastline clean-up. Isle of Wight Day will provide the clean-up volunteers with disposable rubbish bags, gloves, high viz vests and other equipment to help with the coastal clean-up.

For the first time ever, Isle of Wight Day will be holding an It’s a Knock Out competition in the gardens of Northwood House, Cowes after the big parade celebrations on the 22nd September 2018. If you would love to test your agility and skills against rushing water, wobbly platforms and crazy inflatables then you will need to sign-up. We are looking for teams of 10 and individuals that are brave enough to take on the challenge!

Saturday 22nd September – Oktoberfest at The Duver Marina St Helens from 17.30 – 22.30. Inspired by German beer festivals but with a distinctly Island flavour!  Locally produced & sourced food, beers and ales.  Live music from the Jukebox Jazz Trio followed by All Washed Up.  Charity event in support of The Sophie Rolf Trust - KissyPuppy.  Adults £6, Under 15 £3 and under 5’s free
Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd September - Bembridge Harbour Food Festival at Bembridge SCThe DuverSt Helens.  A great event to celebrate all food & drink related businesses on the Isle of Wight.... over Isle of Wight Day weekend.  Small entrance fee for adults 0- kids go free.                      
 Monday 24th September – Taster session for prospective W.I. at 2pm at the Spinnaker, Steyne Road, Bembridge. There will be W.I. ladies who can talk through what the W.I. could offer and the opportunity for questions and forward planning. This should be a fun afternoon. Any ladies from Bembridge or surrounding areas who would like to come and find out more are very warmly invited."

Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th September - The 12th annual Sweetcorn Fayre from 10.30am – 5pm at Arreton Barns, Main Road, Arreton.  There will be lots of fun family themed entertainment, great live music and of course sweetcorn.  BBC Radio Solent will be broadcasting live on the Saturday along with a live gardening questions section with renowned gardener Pip Bensley (triple gold Chelsea Flower Show winner). Bob the Cob, Connie Corn and Nor Niblet all look forward to welcoming you!

Wednesday 1st August – Compton Sandcastle Competition from 10am – 2pm.  Pit your wits and creative skills against the elements for the 'Last Castle Standing' competition or use your design skills to create a spectacular sand sculpture in our design competition.  Meet on the beach, Compton PO30 4HE (SZ 378 841).
Thursday 2nd August – Pier to Pier Charity Walk at 9pm.  Walk from the Steamer Inn, Shanklin Esplanade to Sandown Pier and back to The Steamer approx 4K in the moonlight - setting off at 9 pm returning back to the Steamer for free BBQ.  Raising money for young people’s charity Challenge & Adventure.  Register at the Steamer or online /www.challengeadventure.org.uk/product/pier-to-pier-adult/    Adults £5, Children £3, under 3 free.  Everyone gets a moonwalk medal.  For more information 527026

Friday 3rd August – Sunday 5th August – Party on the Green from 12pm – 6pm.  Hosted by Ryde Rotary Club at Eastern Gardens by Peter Pans. This family friendly event will be similar to previous years events but with more entertainment. A bar with several real ales, a burger tent and tea tent.  Numerous side stalls including adults and kids tombolas.    Lots of fun and entertainment for the whole family.

Saturday 4th August – Saturday 11th August – Cowes Week. There's nothing quite like Cowes Week; the oldest and largest annual sailing regatta in the World and an iconic feature of the British sporting calendar. The event boasts a schedule combining competitive racing and great fun for the 8,000 competitors racing and 100,000 spectators who enjoy a fantastic line up of shore-side entertainment day and night. Visitors can watch the sailing action from the shore or opt to get out on the water aboard a spectator boat.  The famous fireworks take place on the Friday of the event.
                                                                                                               
Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th August – The Chale Show from 10am – 5pm.  Join us for our 2018 summer Show. The biggest and best family show on the island and don’t forget kids go free.

Sunday 5th August – Coffee Morning and Table Top Sale at Sandown Bowling Club (behind Steve Jenkins Play Park) from 10.30 – 2.30.   Raising money for the Play Park.

Sunday 5th August – IOW Scouts – World Scout Jamboree.   Mammoth Car Boot Sale at County Showground, Northwood.  Sellers 8am. Buyers 8.30am

Sunday 5th and Sunday 12th August - Vectis Boating and Fishing Club holds its Junior Open fishing competition for under 16s again on Ryde Pier. This year we have two heats in July and two heats in August. The prize giving will be held on Sunday 12th August. Saturday 11th - Saturday 18th August – The 108th Yarmouth Carnival & Regatta.  Events every day of the week – parade, sand castle competition, decorated dinghies, crabbing from harbour wall, window spotting, harbour sports, kite flying, fun run, teddy bears picnic and so much more.   Come and join in the fun.

Sunday 12th August – Rotary Family Fund Day at Northwood County Showground, Northwood from 10am – 5pm

Monday 13th - Saturday 18th August -  Jigsaw Puzzle Festival at St. James Church, Church Path, East Cowes (PO32 6RL).   Hundreds of completed puzzles on display and for sale. Saturday 13th August – Picnic in the Park at Nelson Road Play Park, Newport (near bus depot). From 11am – 3pm.  Come join us for a free event, bring a picnic and a blanket and relax with the kids. We will have face painting, crafts and pony petting, and lots of other entertainment for the kids to enjoy.

Thursday 16th August – Annual Fair with IW and mainland dealers, trading mostly in postcards and ephemera. The venue is the Parish Centre, Town Lane, Newport from 12 noon and 4pm. There will be displays, refreshments, and admission is free.

Thursday 23rd – Monday 27th August - Isle of Wight Scooter Rally. Up to Five thousand riders of classic scooters descend on the island, heading mostly to the coastal towns of Ryde & Sandown. Starting on Thursday at Ryde Seafront.  Best of British has a vast range of bands & DJ's, starting at noon each day which is free entertainment until 7pm, then ticketed from 8pm.
Saturday 25th August – Isle of Wight Scouts Giant Teddy Bear Picnic at Northwood house, Cowes from 2pm – 5pm.   It's open to anyone of any age, so grab your Teddy Bear and a picnic and come to Northwood House and join in the fun.  There will be some Scouting activities to try, some entertainment to join in with and some prizes to be won, including one for the grandest Teddy Bears Picnic.  Raising funds for IW Scouts and Northwood House, so come along and meet some special celebrities, and above all HAVE SOME FUN!
Saturday 25th August – Kezi Kindness Family Fun Day at Victoria Rec, Victoria Grove, East Cowes from 11am – 3pm.   A family fun day to raise funds for kezi kindness there will be stalls, car boot sellers, food,  entertainment from singing, dancing, magician and samba band. All you could need for a perfect day out with the family.

 Monday 27th August – Chale Car Boot.  One of the ever popular car boot sales to raise money for the upkeep of the recreation ground that is owned by a local community charity and for the future provision of changing facilities.  Set up from 0900. Monday 27th August – Dog Days. In conjunction with Arreton Barns Challenge & Adventure are organising ‘Dog Days’. The day will include a Fun Dog Show, Agility, Various Dog Related Stalls with Displays and Demonstrations.  A great day out for you and your dogs!  From 11am – 4pm
