Saturday 2nd June – Coffee morning/open day at Vectis Radio from 10am -12pm.  Come along to the Vectis Radio studio at the Riverside Centre and see how it all works.  Tea/coffee and biscuits supplied for a minimum £1 donation to keep the community radio station running.

Saturday 2nd June -  Sandown Railway Enthusiasts' Club present their Summer Show at the Lions' Community Centre, Lake, PO36 9LA.  Open from 10.00 to 16.00, admission £3 adults, with accompanied children free.  At least 6 working layouts, plus trade stands.  Accessible venue, toilets and light refreshments available.  Pay & Display car park at venue, buses 2, 3, and 8 stop nearby in Sandown Road, and Island Line trains stop at Lake, about 5 minutes walk away.

Saturday 2nd June – Ryde Rowing Clubs Annual, Hants & Dorset Amateur Rowing Association Championship Rowing Regatta.  Racing in coxed fours, Coxless pairs and doubles and single sculls for men and women in various statuses over an 1800m course from Appley Beach, out towards Ryde Pier and return.  Free to the public with refreshments available.


Sunday 3rd June – Cowes Big Lunch - you are invited to join together for a giant picnic in Northwood Park on the lawns of the House, with lots of free entertainment and fun for the whole family to enjoy.  Starting with a marching band parade into Northwood Park at 11.30am, an open-air blessing follows at 11.45am to thank everyone for attending.  At midday the celebrations start with a full programme of live music led by the Castle Jazz Band and other popular local performers.  Other highlights of the day include a fun dog show, a children’s activity arena and the popular Cowes Bake Off competition which sees large numbers of entries from enthusiastic cake bakers across the Town. Free event.

Thursday 7th June – Community Spirited invite you to an information evening to raise awareness about dementia.  From 6 – 8pm at Parkside Pavilion, Vectis Road, East Cowes. No cost but please consider a small donation that will allow Community Spirited to put on an afternoon tea for people with dementia and their carers.   Numbers are limited so please call 296592 to book your space.

Saturday 9th June – Car Boot Sale at Colwell Common, Colwell Road, Totland Bay.   Sellers 8.30am and buyers from 9am.

Sunday 10th June - Chale Car Boot Sale at Chale Show Ground, Military Road.
One of the friendly and ever popular car boot sales to support the maintenance of the Chale Recreation Ground and raise funds towards the cost of building changing facilities on the site. Set up from 0900. Further information from Wendy on 01983 730 660.

Tuesday 12th June –East Cowes Methodist Church Ladies Group invite you to their annual coffee evening which will be hold in the church from 7 – 9pm.  There will be a bring and buy and various stalls, competitions and a raffle. Proceeds will be in aid of Wight Brainy Bunch.

Saturday 16th June – Armed Forces Day - Come along to Sandown Esplanade and celebrate and support our Armed Forces. From 11am – 6pm.  There will be stalls, bands, displays by groups including the Military College, Wight Army Reserves and the Thistle Pipe Band, military equipment and children’s entertainment. Parade of Veterans, Armed Forces Personnel (including reservists) with the salute being taken by the Lord Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight at Sandown War Memorial. Stalls will be set up along The Esplanade. The aim is to provide a good time for all whilst raising the profile of Armed Forces Day and the RBL. Free event.

Saturday 16th June – Freshwater Parish Council Village Fete from 12 noon – 8pm at Jubilee Field, Freshwater. Fun filled day with Fantastic Live Music, Beer, Great Food and activities for the kids. Under 10s free everyone else £2 admission
Saturday 23rd June - New to You Clearance Sale from 10.30 – 12 at Cowes Methodist Church.  Raising funds for Island Homeless and Cancer Research U.K.

Saturday 23rd June – Shorwell Midsummer Fair from 1.30pm – 5pm.   This traditional village fair is held in the ground of Northcourt, Shorwell.  It is totally un-commercialised and the many attractions and stalls are run by local people and organisations.  Additionally there is a tea tent and arena events including a falconry display, dog demonstrations and a band/folk group.   Money raised goes to support local charities, community groups and organisations.   Free parking and £2 admission price with children under 16 free. Saturday 23rd June and Sunday 24th June – Mike Till – an Art Exhibition at Regatta House, 18 Bath Road, Cowes. This is an art exhibition by the Late Mike Till, Artist and Etchell Sailor.  All work is for sale and all sales to be split between Blind Sailing, Macmillan Nurses and Cowes Week Fireworks.  This is a free event.  For more information please contact Maddy Dobson at maddydobsoniow@gmail.com

Saturday 30th June – Bembridge Summer Festival from 2pm – 6pm at Steyne Park, Steyne Road, Bembridge. This year we are celebrating 5 years of our Summer Festival! The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, Happy Ponies and Haven Falconry will be joining us and we’ll be holding our annual Fun Dog Show with a cash prize of £100 for the Best In Show! Bring the children along to meet Captain America and Princess Belle. Jedi Knights will be battling a Sith Lord in the arena and they may need your help so come along in your best Star Wars Fancy Dress and they’ll be prizes for the best costumes. They’ll be stalls, exhibitions, lots of food, drink and hopefully sunshine! Entry to Bembridge Summer Festival is FREE but we are asking if people would be kind enough to make a donation on the gate as all monies raised goes to local charity Bembridge Youth and Community Centre.

Saturday 30th June – IW Mardi Gras Carnival, Ryde Town Centre.     IW Mardi Gras is a carnival with a fantastic themed parade. It will feature 800 children and young people in fabulous carnival costumes performing some great choreography. Carnival starts at 3pm. Free event.

There will be a raffle and lucky dip as per our normal quizzes. Saturday 5th May – Cowes Lifeboat Open Day - Free entry for a fun filled day from 11am to 4pm with an opportunity to meet representatives of the emergency services (if they are not needed elsewhere) including Fire, Coast Guard, Ambulance, Coast Watch, Police as well as the volunteers of the RNLI and some Independent Lifeboats.  There are activities for both children and adults including storytelling, quizzes, water safety advice, music by Guith outside the Globe Bar and the ice cream boat on Trinity landing. Monday 7th May – Mad Hatters Tea Party at Sandown Community Orchard from 11am – 4pm organised  by The New Carnival Company and Gift to Nature. Bring a picnic, join in and watch the tea party mayhem unfold. Hide from the Queen of Hearts, follow the White Rabbit or hunt for water creatures with our rangers.  'Eat Me' 'Drink Me' refreshments available. Storytelling and music throughout the day. Tuesday 8th May – Friend of Northwood Cemetery invite you to attend a talk by Dr Ruth Waller on Yarmouth Pier.  The talk will take place in the Heritage Resource Centre (West Chapel) at 7.30pm.  There will be refreshments and a retiring collection.
Wednesday 9th – Saturday 12th May - James' Jigsaw Event at St Mary’s Church, Cowes with refreshments in the Parish Room. From 10 am to 4 pm each day.  Free entry - many new jigsaws for sale at a really good price.

Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th May – The Hullabaloo 2018 event takes part in Sandown bay from 10am – 6pm.  Lots going in including Kite Flying,  The Shady Lady Ship Stage and Wheels and Squeals Parade, Soapbox Challenge, food and crafts and much more. Fun for the whole family. Free event.  
 Saturday 12th May.  The eighth annual Wolverton Folk & Blues Fair will take place in the stunning grounds of Wolverton Manor, Shorwell, from 11.30am to 8.00pm. UK's top blues band THE ERROL LINTON BAND and award winning Folk super group THE JIGANTICS. As well as the Main Stage, the popular 'Beer Tent Acoustic Stage' will make a welcome return this year providing a full and varied programme, featuring some of the best Folk & Blues musicians the Isle of Wight has to offer. With an IW real ale beer tent, BBQ, Tea Tent, children's activities, craft stalls, Circus Skills and Morris Dancing. In aid of Leukaemia Research and Brighstone School. Saturday 12th May –Ryde Carnival Quiz Night from 7.30pm at Simeon Arms, 21 Simon Street,  Ryde. Come along to another entertaining quiz raising funds for Ryde Carnival. Everyone welcome. Only £2 a head so grab your friends for a fun evening.

Saturday 12th May - Isle of Wight Scouts Open Day at Corf CampsiteCorf RoadShalfleet from 10am – 3pm.  This is a chance for members of the public to experience the Scouting adventure. Scouting is open to anyone from age 6 to adult; whatever your age, come along and spend some time with us. With 23 Scout groups across the Island you're never far from a Scout group, or some Scouting FUN!

Sunday 13th May - Teddy Bear Zip Wire Challenge and Family Fun Day at Cowes Community ClubPark RoadCowes from 11am – 4pm.  In aid of Rally for Heroes. Will your Teddy/Cuddly Toy dare to jump off a 26ft Tower? If they jump they will receive a Medal and Owners get to choose a prize. So come along with your brave and daring Teddies. Supported  by Demonstrations by the Ability Dogs for Young People and re enactment Battles by The Wolfguard Vikings, with some audience participation! There will be giant bouncy castle, slide, shooting alley, candy floss, popcorn, Face Painting, there will be some Rally Cars on show, so something for children of all ages up to 100yrs! A Great Family Fun Day.  Entrance is free.
Thursday 17th May - Cowes Heritage Open Day Thursday 10 am - 12 noon and again at 6 pm - 9 pm at The Portacabin, Three Gates Road Business Park.  As well as being able to browse our comprehensive range of archived material, this FREE event offers you the unique opportunity to view some of the large collection of rarely seen local material compiled by the late Charles Taylor, well known Cowes historian (known to all as Charlie).

Saturday 19th May – Royal Wedding Afternoon Tea at Shanklin Age Concern 106 Regent Street, Shanklin at 2pm and Tea will be served on fine china, with scones, cakes and sandwiches. Everyone is welcome, but it is especially aimed at making it an afternoon for our members to remember. The centre can be contacted during the daytime on 866109. Sunday 20th May – The Isle of Wight Dog Festival from 10am – 6pm at Pony club field, Beatrice Avenue, Whippingham, PO32 6LW. Dog shows, games, bouncy castle, ponies, food, bar, carriage rides, agility, stalls and much more.   £3 per person under 12’s free.  All dogs to be kept on a lead.
