Saturday 1st February – Vectis Radio Station Open Day from 10am to 12 midday at the studio based at the Riverside Centre, Newport. Come and see how it all works behind the scenes, meet some of the presenters, have a cuppa and some cake. All we ask is a minimum £1 donation to help keep your community radio station running.
Saturday 1st February – Join us at Bembridge Youth and Community Centre for an ‘Evening at the Races’. Help raise money for Bembridge Football Club and Bembridge Youth Football Club by coming along and placing a bet! Races start at 8pm, the bar will be open from 6pm and families are welcome.
Saturday 1st February – Preloved Clothing Sale with 50% off everything at IW Foodbank, Love Lane, Cowes from 10am – 1pm. Whether you have had a New Year clear out (please do remember we love to receive clothing donations) and need a fresh wardrobe, or you are looking for something to warm you up on these cooler days, we have a wide selection for you to come and view. Selling clothes helps us raise necessary funds to support the work we do. Please come and grab a cuppa and a slice of cake in our cafe whilst refreshing your wardrobe.
Sunday 2nd February – Island Cohousing Introductory Talk and Q&A at 1pm in the Corner Room at Fort Victoria, Yarmouth. Come and learn about cohousing. Everyone has their own private dwelling but there are shared resources such as a workshop, gardens and a common house where meals can be prepared and shared. Thursday 6th February – Time To Talk Day at The Pop Up Peoples Gallery, 33 High Street, Newport between 10.30 - 3.30pm. Have a look at The Anxious & Awesome Exhibition, a project created to encourage people to speak up about mental health. The Working Towards Wellbeing Team and The Mental Health Service User Involvement Team will be available during the morning with information and to answer any questions. Sunday 16th February – Sandman Snowman. Join us on the Science Beach at the seafront opposite Browns Golf Course, Culver Parade, Sandown PO36 8QA at 10.30am. Free event! Come snow or shine, and make your own Snowman… out of sand! Carrots and coal provided and hot chocolate on tap! Bring a bucket and spade and wrap up warm.
Sunday 16th February - Plastic Free Shanklin. Join us on our beach clean. Meet at the South East Beach Café from 10am. We provide you with equipment and instructions, so that we can clean the beach safely. We will also arrange for everything we find to be disposed of responsibly.
Friday 21st – Saturday 22nd February - a wide range of stories and storytellers for children and families to enjoy. There will be appearances from some big-hitters from the world of children’s books. Hear them tell their terrific tales through wicked words and perfect pictures – and expect lots of laughs on the way! And children and their families can be storytellers too: using old typewriters, making junk models and through other writing and craft activities. Local authors and performers will be out in force – and not all of the attractions will be human! Come and commune with butterflies and bats! We hope to see you there; it’s going to be a lot of fun!
Saturday 22nd February – The National Trust are holding a coffee morning at Bembridge Village Hall from 10am – 12.30pm. Enjoy a hot drink and cake as you find out how they are getting on with fundraising for Bembridge Windmill sweeps. There will be items made from the old sweeps for sale and opportunities to find out about volunteering too.
Sunday 23rd February – The Newchurch Male Voice Choir will be at the Quay Arts Centre, Newport Harbour presenting a Concert on behalf of the Island Rotary Club to raise funds for the Rotary projects on the Island. Entry Free. Retiring Collection. Starts at 3pm. All welcome.
